Kamo

Kamos are a winged hexapodal species that originate from the same planet as the smeet. As such, the two species share a long and diverse cultural history with each other.

Kamos evolved in mountainious regions, where their climbing and flying abilities let them navigate the treturous turrane with relitive ease. They are omniviourous, but reuqire a fair amount of energy to maintain their body temperature and fuel flight, so they would hunt fairly frequently using ambush tatics.

Kamos have four biological sexes, similar to the Earth’s white-throated sparrow. A supergene mutation in the distant past resulted in two additional sexes that were unable to reporduce directly with each other, makeing two distinct morphs - commonly called the stiff or straight feathered and the curly feathered morphs - that each have egg and sperm producing sexes. It is theoretically possible but very rare for two stiff feathered individuals of different sexes to reproduce, and two curly feathered indivuduals can almost never produce viable offspring without technological assistnace. Inner morph sexual attraction is uncommon.

In broad strokes, the straight feathered individuals tend to be more aggressive and gregarious, where as curly feathered kamos tend to be more loyal to a smaller social group and more nurturing. Egg laying kamo tend to be more stubborn and focused, where as sperm producing kamo tend to be a little more relaxed and easy going.
