Tatrilli

Tatrilli are an omnivorous species, originally arboreal, who can walk either bipedally or quadrupedally. They evolved on the same planet as the silent ones, who abandoned the planet after a meteor impact came along side a super-volcano eruption that created a large climate shift. Post-climate shift, tatrilli had to adapt to drastically different conditions, developing agricultural societies when the forests could no longer provide for them. The silent ones noticed the developing farms with the satellites, and got in contact with the tatrilli, accelerating their technological development a huge amount, making them the third species to leave their home system roughly 10,500 years ago.

Tatrilli only have one genetic sex. Hormonal changes triggered by feelings of physical and emotional attraction can cause a physiological response in which an egg producing ovary-like organ will develop. It is still possible for an individual who is actively producing eggs to fertilize eggs as well, and it is quite common for a mating pair to both start developing eggs at the same time.
