Dancers
Dancers are a species of athropods, about the size of an Earth cantalope. Their main manipulators are a pare of pedipalps near their jaws. They can naturally produce silk, similiarly to Earth spiders, and will frequently use it as a major component to their architecutre. They are obligate carnivores.
Dancers do not have anything close to the concept of a biological family, an individual can produce hundreds of eggs at a time and woulnd't be able to raise them all alone if they wanted to. Insead dancer cultures will lay their eggs in a public place, and then abandon them. Anyone who comes accross eggs while going about their day will take a few minutes to make sure they are doing well, and apply any care that they need. Once the eggs have hatched their is a lot more culutral variation on how young dancers are raised, but it is fairly common for communities of dancers to have large communal housing and schooling for children.
The vast majority of dancers are capable of producing eggs. Egg laying individuals are over twice the size of a sperm producing individual. Sperm producing individuals have a strong instinct to find a new community upon maturity, and will rarely act against it.
Dancers get their name from one of their communication methods that the culture involved with first contact employed, a full body sign language. Dancers do not have well developed vocalizations, and pimarily do in person communication either through sign or through web vibrations.
